Natural Science: Terrarium

Good afternoon, everyone:

As you know, we are studying plants and learning a lot about how they grow. Next week, we will start one of the most interesting contents: Photosynthesis (how plants obtain the food they need...).

We have tried to make our own terrariums at school and it seems it is working, but maybe you want to make one at home. The next video shows the most important steps to create this tiny ecosystem in a jar. If you have any doubts, please ask me tomorrow in class.

This is the video.

See you tomorrow!

Plants classification

 Hi, kids:

Some of you have asked me to share here the word map we did together last week. Your wish is my command, so...

There's another thing. These are the photographs about spores we have seen today.

And this is the video where the fern shoots the spores. So cool!

See you tomorrow.

Natural Science: Make your ecosystem in a jar

Hello, kids!

Do you remember the plant I made and brought to school? I thought you might like to try it and make one.
I have found a video that explains how to make it. I like that video because it says some things about Social Science too (water vapour, evaporation...) and then explains the different stages to make the terrarium.

Watch it and give it a try if you feel like it. Of course, you can ask me all your doubts.

I'd love to see some photographs if you give it a try ;)

See you tomorrow, kids!

Taller de dibujo de la naturaleza

Good morning, everyone:

We have prepared a folder with some photographs from our workshop with Mariola and Nabil. Your drawings were awesome and we thought you may like to share them with your parents.

You worked very hard during that session and Nabil and Mariola were very happy with your enthusiasm. Thanks a lot, kids.

Click on the link below and have a look at the photos and videos.

TALLER DE ARTE EN LA NATURALEZA

And this is the video we watched. We thought you might like to watch it again and see some of the animals you learnt to draw.

Enjoy this long weekend.

See you on Wednesday.

Natural Science

Hello, kids!

As I promised, here you can watch the videos with the fern and mosses and how they reproduce using spores.

MOSSES

And this is the website I told you about. You can listen to forests all over the world. The yellow dots show you the location of these forests. Click and listen to the wind and the many animals that live there. I hope you like it ;)

Plants: photosynthesis

Hi, kids!

As you know, we are going to learn a lot of things about plants in Unit 4.

I'd like to share with you a nice song that explains how plants produce their own food (that is why they are called producers).

Remember, this process is called PHOTOSYNTHESIS.

If you want to sing along, these are the lyrics:

If you want to know / How a plant grows / It takes water, air, and sunlight / And makes cellulose
Every plant can do this / Fundamental process / And we can call this / Photosynthesis
Unlike me and you / Plants need CO2 / And they make oxygen / That stops us turning blue
Every plant can do this / Fundamental process / And we can call this / Photosynthesis
It’s a miracle / How all the chlorophyll / Captures sunlight in the leaves / Of the plants and the trees
A plant of any size / Can do it if it tries / But we’re not green, so we can’t / photosynthesize
Every plant can do this / Fundamental process / And we can call this / Photosynthesis
It’s a miracle / How all the chlorophyll / Captures sunlight in the leaves / Of the plants and the trees
Every plant can do this / Fundamental process / And we can call this / Photosynthesis
Every plant can do this / Fundamental process / And we can call this / Pho-to-syn-the-sis
Photosynthesis

I hope you like it :)

Bye.
