English 12th June 2020

Hello, little people:

It's our last Friday with "classes", because next week we have our video-call (jitsi). That means this could be our last song, or we could have another, maybe next week. I have to think about it :)

Anyway, let's start with some music ;)

1. Complete the lyrics:

Every drop of  (1)_____________________in that falls in Sahara Desert says it all
It's a miracle
All God's creations great and (2)________________________

If every leaf on every (8)_____________________
Could tell a story that would be a miracle
If every child on every (9)_______________________

That time will come one day you'll see when we can all be friends
That time will come one day you'll see when we can all be friends

I hope you like it, I know Alvaro did.

2. Two days ago we talked about Italy. Today we are going to read about another fantastic country: Mexico! You can read some information on PB page 99 (you can also listen to it on the link below).

3. After reading, try to answer the next questions about the text.

a) What can you eat in Mexico?
b) How old are some of the Ancient ruins in Mexico?
c) What are the typical music bands in Mexico?
d) Are there beaches in Mexico?

4. Let's finish today with another worksheet to go over Present perfect tense (very easy and short).

Have a nice weekend :)

English 5th June 2020

Good morning, little gastropods:

How are you today? It's Friday again! I can't believe how fast these days are happening. The thing is we have to do some English and, since it's Friday, we have to start with our little tradition. I have chosen a different song today. I hope you like it :)

1. Complete the lyrics (es muy larga, pero no tenemos ninguna prisa y además es divertidísima).

Be our guest
Be our guest
Put our service to the (1)_________________
Tie your napkin 'round your (2)_________________, cherie
And we provide the rest

Soup du jour
Hot hors d'oeuvres
Why, we only (3)________________to serve
Try the grey stuff, it's delicious
Don't (4)____________________me? Ask the dishes

They can sing
They can dance
After all, Miss, this is (5)___________________
And a (6)__________________here is never second best

Go on, unfold your menu
Take a glance and then you'll
Be our guest
Oui, our guest
Be our guest

Beef ragout
(7)__________________souffle
Pie and pudding "en flambe"
We'll prepare and serve with flair
A culinary cabaret
You're alone
And you're (8)______________________
But the banquet's all prepared
No one's gloomy or complaining
While the flatware's entertaining

We (9)____________jokes
I do tricks
With my fellow candlesticks
And it's all in (10)________________taste that you can bet

Come on and lift your glass
You've won your own free pass
To be out guest
If you're stressed
It's fine dining we suggest
Be our guest
Be our guest
Be our guest

(11)________________is so unnerving
For a servant who's not serving
He's not whole without a soul to wait upon
Ah, those good old (12)__________________when we were useful
Suddenly those good old days are gone
Ten (13)_______________we've been rusting
Needing so much more than dusting
Needing (14)_________________, a chance to use our skills
Most days we just lay around the castle
Flabby, fat and lazy
You walked in and oops-a-daisy!

It's a guest
It's a guest
Sakes alive, well I'll be blessed
Wine's been poured and thank the Lord
I've had the napkins freshly pressed
With dessert
She'll want (15)_______________________
And my dear that's fine with me
While the cups do their soft shoeing
I'll be bubbling, I'll be brewing

I'll get warm
Piping (16)_____________________
Heaven's sakes! Is that a spot?
Clean it up! We want the company impressed
We've got a lot to do
Is it one lump or two
For you, our guest
She's our guest
She's our guest
She's our guest

Be our guest
Be our guest
Our command is your request
It's ten years since we had anybody here
And we're obsessed

With your meal
With your ease
Yes, indeed, we aim to please
While the candlelight's still glowing
Let us help you
We'll keep going
Course by course
One by one
'Til you shout, enough, I'm done
Then we'll sing you off to sleep as you digest
Tonight you'll prop your feet up
But for now, let's (17)__________________up
Be our guest
Be our guest
Be our guest
Please, be our guest

2. In the link below we have a worksheet you can do to practise a bit more with the new structure we are learning (present perfect to talk about experiences we have had).

3. The song was long and the worksheet was double, so I think you could use a break. Try the next game prepared by our friends from "Los Batanes" (los invertebrados de la Sierra de Guadarrama).

Have a nice weekend ;)

Natural Science 29th May 2020

Good morning, centipedes:

How are you today? It's Friday again and you know what that means. Yes, I know. But there's a problem. I usually share a song when we do English, but today we have Natural Science. So I thought: maybe I can choose a song about invertebrates. Not an easy thing! But I found one :)

Complete the lyrics below.

I'd like to be (1)___________the sea
In an octopus's garden in the shade
He'd let us in, knows (2)_____________we've been
In his octopus's garden in the shade

I'd ask my friends to (3)___________and see
An octopus's garden with me
I'd like to be under the sea
In an octopus's garden in the shade

We would be warm below the (4)_________________
In our little hideaway beneath the (5)______________
Resting our (6)______________on the sea bed
In an octopus's garden near a cave

We would (7)________________and dance around
Because we (8)____________we can't be found
I'd like to be under the sea
In an octopus's garden in the shade

We would shout and (9)_____________about
The (10)_____________that lies beneath the waves
(Lies beneath the ocean waves)
Oh what joy for every (11)___________and (12)_______________
Knowing they're happy and they're safe
(Happy and they're safe)

We would be so happy you and me
No one there to tell us what to do
I'd like to be under the sea
In an octopus's garden with you
In an octopus's garden with you
In an octopus's garden with you

And now let's continue with our invertebrates.

Some days ago we talked about the first group: Arthropods. It is the biggest group and it has four subgroups: insects, crustaceans, arachnids, cnidarians).

Today we are going to see two new groups: molluscs and echinoderms. Have a look at the next word maps:

As you can see, it is a lot of information, but you don't have to learn everything. Read it carefully and try to do the next activities:

1. How do cephalopods escape predators?

2. Identify the next molluscs and echinoderms:

a) I have a long, soft and elastic body___________________
b) I use my strong arms to open shells___________________
c) My soft body is protected by a shell___________________
d) I am a cephalopod but I am not an octopus____________
e) I have a spiky body_________________________________
f) I am a gastropod but I am not a snail__________________
g) I can use ink to escape predators_____________________

3. Let's finish with some AB exercises (AB 17).

I have found two videos about molluscs and echinoderms. I hope you like them.

MOLLUSCS

ECHINODERMS (starfish)

Have a nice weekend!

Good morning, everyone:

Antes de nada, echad un vistazo a lo siguiente en el blog de la biblioteca (aquí).

It is Friday again and I know you are waiting for a new lovely song. It is a very easy song, but I think you may like it (everybody likes this song). So, let's get to it:

California dreamin' (California dreamin')
On such a winter's day (California dreamin')

2. Now let's see how you answer the next questions.

a) Have you ever been to England?______________________
b) Have ever written a poem?__________________________
c) Have you ever seen a unicorn?_______________________
d) Has your mother ever eaten insects?__________________
e) Have you ever swum with sharks?_____________________
f) Has your teacher ever drawn a pig?___________________

3. Let's continue with another flags worksheet (link below)

4. As I said, we need to go over verbs in this unit. So have a look at the next game to practise that 3rd column (PAST PARTICIPLE). Puede parecer un juego simple, pero es muy interesante para aprender cómo se forman esas frases en PRESENT PERFECT (un tiempo verbal que usamos para hablar de cosas que hemos hecho).

And that'll be all, folks!

Have a nice weekend.

English 8th May 2020

Hello, little rascals:

How are you today? I know you love Fridays, so you must be very happy!

Let's start with a very nice song. It's OK if you want to dance, but after your little dance, you have to complete the lyrics.

What a lovely song! And now the lyrics (it is very easy this time):

1. I've heard that song before.

It seems to me I've ______________that song before
It's from an ________familiar score
I ____________it well, that melody
It's funny how a theme recalls a ___________dream
A dream that brought you so close to _______

I know each _________because I've heard that _____before
The lyrics _________"Forever more"
Forever more's a memory
__________have them __________it again
And I'll ________just when
I heard that lovely _____________before

2. Let's continue with the song a bit more. There are some verbs in the lyrics. Write the past simple and the past participle of the next verbs from the song.

HEAR, KNOW, BRING, BE, SAY, HAVE.

3. Next try to do the next super easy vocabulary activities (AB 109).
4. Let's finish with some more irregular verbs. Click on the first link below to play a very easy memory game. The second game is a bit more difficult...

Enjoy your weekend.

Take care :)

We have English today. English + Friday = song. So let's start with a new song... I think this is a bit easier. The video resembles a 007 movie, I hope you like it.

You know how I (3)___________________

It's a new day
It's a new life
It's a new life
For me
And I'm feeling good
I'm feeling good
I'm feeling so good
I feel so good

2. Let's talk about jobs a bit more. Try to do the next activity (AB page 83:2).
Order the words and write sentences.

1

A DENTIST
WORKS
IN A CLINIC

3. On the links below there are two games to practise with jobs a bit more. You can also listen to the words (that's important).

Antes de desearos un feliz fin de semana, comparto con vosotros otra actividad que han preparado nuestros monitores del albergue. Espero que os guste.

Un fuerte abrazo y feliz fin de semana.
