Natural Science 24th March 2020

Good morning, kids!

Some more drawings before we start our class today (Thank you, David, Hera and Lucía):

We are going to do some activities to go over Unit 5: matter and forces (pages 72-75).

1. Go to the kitchen and find five objects that are made of the next materials. When you find them, you have to write the object, the properties and what is is used for.

Example: wood.

WOOD.............CHAIR......RESISTANT AND RIGID.... IT IS USED TO SIT ON IT.

These are the five materials: WOOD (you can't use 'chair'), PLASTIC, STEEL, GLASS, FABRIC

2. Try the next game to learn about some waterproof materials (materiales impermeables: el agua no pasa a través de ellos), resistant materials, flexible materials...

3. You know that the density of water is 1 kg/l. Materials that have a lower density that water float, and materials that a higher density of water sink. In the video below, some kids practise with different objects. Watch the video and try at home with some objects. Do they sink or float?

4. The next worksheet can help you going over some substances and decide if they are solid, liquid or gas. Remember: ramoncuevasramirez@gmail.com

Natural Science (Wednesday 18th March 2020).

Good morning, everyone!
What about some Natural Science? There are a few things I want you to do today.

FIRST.
Do these two activities. You can write them down in your notebook. They are very easy.

Classify the next elements. Are they SOLID, LIQUID or GAS?

BREAD, MILK, OXYGEN, VAPOUR, BLOOD, GLASS, WATER, HAILSTONE, SNOWFLAKE, CARBON DIOXIDE

SOLID
LIQUID
GAS

Complete the next texts with the next words:

amount, level, cylinder, space, higher, scale, grams, litres,

Mass is the _________ of matter something contains. For example, a watermelon has more matter than a lemon. This means it has a _________ mass. A computer has a higher mass than a piece of paper. You can use a balance or a _______ to find the mass of an object. They will tell you the mass of the objects in _________ (g) and kilograms (kg).

Volume is the amount of __________ an object occupies. To measure the volumen of an object of any shape, first put water in a measuring cup or ___________. Measure the water _________. Then put an object into the cup. Measure the water level again. Subtratc the new measurement from the first one. This gives you the object’s volumen in millilitres (ml) or _________ (l).

SECOND.

Watch the next video very slowly and paying attention. It is a bit longer than usual, but it goes over some interesting contents: mass, volumen, density…

THIRD.

Try to do this interactive worksheet about materials (as you did yesterday with the Future worksheet).

Natural Science: Density

Good morning, little scientists!

This Natural Science unit is a bit difficult. Don't worry, we will go over all those contents before the test. Anyway, I have found some videos that could help you understand some of the concepts we have studied so far. Watch them and ask me any doubts that may arise.

VIDEO 1

VIDEO 2 (don't watch the last 30 seconds).
VIDEO 3

See you later!
