Social Science 21st May 2020

Good morning, little walruses:

Thursday! Ah, lovely Thursday! Na, na, na, na, na, na.... Oh, I'm sorry.

1. We have finished Social Science unit 4 (water). Have a look at the different word maps you made before you try the quiz below (te recomiendo que revises antes los esquemas, ya que es un repaso de todos los contenidos del tema). Are you ready?

2. Read the next sentences and identify what they refer to (you have to use a map to do it):

a) This ocean separates the Americas from Europe________
b) This sea is connected to the Atlantic Ocean by the Strait of Gibraltar________
c) This ocean surrounds the North Pole________
d) This ocean is to the west of the Americas________
e) This ocean is to the East of Asia________
f) This is the longest river in the Iberian Peninsula________
g) This sea is between Japan and China________
h) This sea separates Alaska and Russia________

3. I have found a video that explains how to make an experiment to understand how wells and groundwater work. Maybe you'd like to try it (it's not homework, but it seems interesting and fun).

And that'll be all for today.

See you tomorrow ;)

English 20th Mayo 2020

Good morning, kids.

Are you ready for a new day? Ok, cupcake!

Let's start with some new lighthouses and drawings :)

We have to do some English today. We started unit 9 on Monday and we are going to continue with some of those contents today.

1. First I'd like to see if you can identify the next countries:

a) MARNIAO__________________________
b) TIALY_____________________________
c) PAJAN_____________________________
d) ICOXEM____________________________
e) SSIARU_____________________________
f) DIANI_______________________________
g) TZERSWILAND_______________________

Do you remember our list of verbs? It had three columns: INIFINITIVE, PAST SIMPLE AND PAST PARTICIPLE. Today we are going to talk about the third column (PAST PARTICIPLE). Have a look at these questions?

- Have you ever been to France?
- Have you ever written a poem?
- Have you ever eaten an insect?

BE, WAS/WERE, BEEN
WRITE, WROTE, WRITTEN
EAT, ATE, EATEN.

Do you like pizza? Yes, I do.
Does she like tomatoes? Yes, she does.
Will you come to my party? Yes, I will.
Did you do your homework? Yes, I did.

Have you ever been to Italy? Yes, I have/ No, I haven't.
Has she ever been to France? Yes, she has/ No, she hasn't.

2. After that, try to do the next AB exercises (AB 91:1-2).

Ex: Have you ever seen a giraffe? Yes, I have.

Para ello utilizamos el verbo HAVE (o HAS con he,she,it) y la tercera columna de los verbos:

HAVE/HAS + PAST PARTICIPLE

I have been
You have written
She has eaten

3. Let's practise this third column (past participle) a bit more with the game below.

PAST PARTICIPLE GAME

That's be all.

See you tomorrow!

Natural Science 19th May 2020

Hello, little beasts:

Some Natural Science? Ok.

You already know a lot of things about vertebrates, those animals that have a backbone and a skeleton. I thought that we could start with some skeletons... It is going to be a bit tricky. I am going to show you some photographs with skeletons. You have to tell me the animal group (mammal, bird, fish, reptile or amphibian) and try to guess the animal (this is harder). It is a bit scary :)

1. Tell me the animal group and try to identify the animal.

Example: ANIMAL GROUP: mammal. ANIMAL: horse

a) ANIMAL GROUP_______________ ANIMAL______________

b) ANIMAL GROUP______________ ANIMAL_______________

c) ANIMAL GROUP______________ ANIMAL_______________

d) ANIMAL GROUP______________ ANIMAL_______________

e) ANIMAL GROUP______________ ANIMAL_______________

f) ANIMAL GROUP______________ ANIMAL_______________

g) ANIMAL GROUP______________ ANIMAL_______________

2. I'd like you to create your own word map to talk about vertebrates. You can use the next template to write some basic facts about mammals, birds, reptiles, fish and amphibians (no se trata de escribir todo lo que sabéis de cada grupo, pero sí alguna característica básica).
3. Last week you did a worksheet about amphibians (con algunos fallos, lo siento). Let's try to review some of the things we know about fish. On the link below there is a very interesting web page. Click, dive into the water and choose one animal, then do a bit of research about it (where it lives, diet, size...).

See you tomorrow.

English 18th May 2020

Good morning, everyone:

I hope you had a nice weekend. Are you ready for a new week?

After the no-test you took in English last week, it's time to start a new unit. It is Unit 9, and it's going to be the last.

In this unit we are going to talk about countries, travelling and tourism.

Let's start with some countries.

1. Can you identify the next flags? Link below.

2. We are going to learn how to describe flags and guess countries. Read the next examples:

RAMÓN: It's got a blue, white and red flag.
KID: Is it France?
RAMÓN: Yes, it is. Would you like to go to France?
KID: Yes, I would.

I want you to write two similar dialogues, with different flags.

3. Try to do the next AB exercise (page 90:2). Don't forget to colour the flags.

4. Let's finish with the next worksheet (super easy).

En inglés, of course.

See you tomorrow ;)

- Hoy estreno limpia y chupa.

¡Viva San Isidro y viva Madrid!

Social Science 13th May 2020

Good morning, lighthouse keepers!

I'd like to show you some of the lighthouses I have visited in the last days.

They are very nice and now sailors are going to be safe. That's very important.

Last week we talked about groundwater, which is the last section in our Social Science unit. Today I'd like you to do some activities to go over contents such as water, water cycle, rivers, etc...

1. Classify the next bodies of water:

PACIFIC, AMAZON, MEDITERRANEAN, ATLANTIC, CANTABRIAN, NILE, GUADALQUIVIR, SOUTHERN, VOLGA, ARCTIC, MISSISSIPPI, CASPIAN, ELTON.

OCEANS:
SEAS:
RIVERS:
LAKES:

2. In the next photographs, choose the right word.

a) Upper course or Middle course?

b) Lower course or Middle course?

c) Tributary or meander?

d) Source or mouth?

e) Source or tributary?

f) Source or lovely animal?

3. When I was at school we used maps like the one below to study rivers, mountains and capital cities (I am sure some of your parents used them too). Choose one of the rivers and write four tributaries and say if the mouth is in the Atlantic watershed, Mediterranean watershed or Cantabrian watershed.

4. In the link below you can watch a very nice video that offers a summary of the water cycle. It is a bit different, but I think you can identifiy the four stages (evaporation, condensation, precipitation and collection) if you pay attention.

ANOTHER WATER CYCLE GAME

See you tomorrow!
