Good morning, lighthouse keepers!

I'd like to show you some of the lighthouses I have visited in the last days.

They are very nice and now sailors are going to be safe. That's very important.

Last week we talked about groundwater, which is the last section in our Social Science unit. Today I'd like you to do some activities to go over contents such as water, water cycle, rivers, etc...

1. Classify the next bodies of water: 

PACIFIC, AMAZON, MEDITERRANEAN, ATLANTIC, CANTABRIAN, NILE, GUADALQUIVIR, SOUTHERN, VOLGA, ARCTIC, MISSISSIPPI, CASPIAN, ELTON. 

OCEANS: 

SEAS: 

RIVERS:

LAKES: 

2. In the next photographs, choose the right word.

a) Upper course or Middle course? 

b) Lower course or Middle course?

c) Tributary or meander?

d) Source or mouth?

e) Source or tributary?

f) Source or lovely animal?

3. When I was at school we used maps like the one below to study rivers, mountains and capital cities (I am sure some of your parents used them too). Choose one of the rivers and write four tributaries and say if the mouth is in the Atlantic watershed, Mediterranean watershed or Cantabrian watershed. 

4. In the link below you can watch a very nice video that offers a summary of the water cycle. It is a bit different, but I think you can identifiy the four stages (evaporation, condensation, precipitation and collection) if you pay attention.

5. En este último enlace hay un juego del ciclo del agua. Es algo largo y, aunque parece muy simplón, es importante leer cada una de las frases que os explican las fases del ciclo del agua. Hay muchos niveles que debéis superar. Ya me contaréis.

Parece ser que a algunas familias os está pidiendo registraros para poder jugar. Yo entré y no creé ninguna cuenta, así que no debería pedirla... De todas formas, si da problemas, probad a buscar la web en google (ABC YA), y en el buscador de la página escribid "hydro logic" que es el nombre del juego. A ver si hay suerte así.
Y si sigue dando problemas, pues probad este otro juego de una web diferente...
