English 27th March 2020

Good morning, kids!
Some drawings? Thank you, Álvaro and Héctor O.

It's a special Friday today. On 27th March 1952, that's sixty-eight years ago, a wonderful film was premiered. It is an American musical comedy with lots of songs... And today, your first activity is going to be listening to one of those songs (I know you love my songs) and write the words that are missing in the lyrics below. It is just a listening activity, related with weather, with some wonderful music. The video is also very cool ;)

 1. Complete the lyrics while you listen to the song.

I'm __________ in the rain
Just singing in the ________
What a glorious feeling
I'm _______ again
I'm laughing at ________
So dark up above
The sun's in my ________
And I'm ready for love
Let the _________ clouds chase
Everyone from the _________
Come on with the rain
I've a _________ on my face
I ________down the lane
With a _________refrain
Just singing
__________ in the rain
__________ in the rain
Da da da da da da
I'm happy ________... (and now just enjoy the video).

Did you like it? I know you did :)

2. Some days ago we practised how to write affirmative sentences with WILL. Today I’d like you to go over negative predictions with WON’T and how to answer questions. In the links below there are two activities.

3. Next week we are going to start a new unit in English. In Unit 8 we are going to talk about jobs, so it would be great if we could review some vocabulary related to professions. If you want to play, click :)

Have a nice Friday!

Social Science 26th March 2020

Good morning, nice people!

Thursdays are always lovely days...and today is Thursday :)

Some drawings? Thank you, David and Santiago :)

Today I'd like you to do some Social Science activities. We are going to go over vocabulary and concepts about the five weather factors, weather instruments, etc.

Are you ready?

1. First, there are two educaplay activities you can try on the links below...

2. Read the next texts and answer the questions below.

The natural world around you gives many indications of what weather to expect. Read the following ways of forecasting wet weather using natural objects.

PINE CONES.

In dry weather, the scales of a pine cone open out. If wet weather is coming, the scales absorb the humidity in the air and close up again.

KELP

Kelp is a type of seaweed. In dry weather it shrivels up (se arruga), but if wet weather approaches, the kelp absorbs the water vapour in the air and swells (se hincha) to its normal shape again.

SCARLET PIMPERNEL

The flowers of the scarlet pimpernel close up when the atmospheric pressure decreases, warning of rain on the way.

a) What do  pine cone scales do when the weather is wet?
b) What is kelp? What does it do when the weather is dry?
c) What happens to the scarlet pimpernel when rain approaches?

3. Last, but not least, I want you to try one of these interactives worksheets. The first is a bit easier than the second, that is also suuuuuuuuuuuper long. But as I always say, you don't have to do everything today. OK?

See you soon :)

English 25th March 2020

Good morning, everyone!

I hope you are fine. Are you ready to work a little?

First of all. Did you know that your Physical Education teacher has created a blog? It is a great way to do some physical activity at home... I have visited it and I have to say it has some cool activities.

So give it a try!

I want to share some of the drawings I have received in the last hours.

About English...

In this unit we are talking about the future but also about places in the city. So, today we are going to go over some of the vocabulary we learnt at the beginning of the unit.

1. In the link below there is a website with some worksheets. I just want you to do pages 1 and 2.

2. I am trying a new tool. It is called educaplay. There are two activities I have created. Click to play :)

3. And another short story. I love them...do you? As usual, you can watch the video, play the game and do the worksheet if you have time.

See you tomorrow :)

Natural Science 24th March 2020

Good morning, kids!

Some more drawings before we start our class today (Thank you, David, Hera and Lucía):

We are going to do some activities to go over Unit 5: matter and forces (pages 72-75).

1. Go to the kitchen and find five objects that are made of the next materials. When you find them, you have to write the object, the properties and what is is used for.

Example: wood.

WOOD.............CHAIR......RESISTANT AND RIGID.... IT IS USED TO SIT ON IT.

These are the five materials: WOOD (you can't use 'chair'), PLASTIC, STEEL, GLASS, FABRIC.

2. Try the next game to learn about some waterproof materials (materiales impermeables: el agua no pasa a través de ellos), resistant materials, flexible materials...

3. You know that the density of water is 1 kg/l. Materials that have a lower density that water float, and materials that a higher density of water sink. In the video below, some kids practise with different objects. Watch the video and try at home with some objects. Do they sink or float?

4. The next worksheet can help you going over some substances and decide if they are solid, liquid or gas. Remember: ramoncuevasramirez@gmail.com

English 23rd March 2020

Good morning, my friends!

How are you today? Monday again. Yes, I know... But we have to work a bit, don't you think?

First of all, I want to share here some of the beautiful drawings I have received in the last days (Miguel, Alejandro, Yaiza, Carlos, Héctor Díaz, Mateo...) Thanks a lot!!!

Let's try to do some more activities to review how to make predictions about the future and also to talk about the past (verbs!!!).

I want to suggest three activities:

1. Two easy exercises online to practise affirmative sentences with WILL (seguiremos con las negativas e interrogativas en los próximos días, pero quiero hacer esto despacio para que nos sirva a todos de repaso).

2. A short story ('A dog's life') to practise the verbs in the past tense (regular and irregular verbs). First, you can watch the story in the link below (there is also a matching game on the same website). Then you can open the worksheet based on the story.

STORY (and game)

3. What about another game? Click and test what you know about verbs in the past tense.

That'll be all folks!

Have a nice day.

Social Science: 20th March 2020

Good morning, kids!

It is Friday! Yes, yes, I know it is a different Friday, but there is one thing you haven't noticed yet. Today is the 20th March, that means we haven't had classes since 10th March. Ten days already! That means our return is a bit closer. Hang on in there!

Let's get to it!

First of all I want to share with you some of nice drawings I have received. Thank you, guys. I'd love to get some more :)

There are some games I'd like you to try, but first there are two worksheets we can use to learn a bit more about weather in a different way (sé que no todos podéis imprimir las fichas en casa, por lo que podéis simplemente abrirlas, leerlas y escribir las respuestas en papel. No problem).

There is a penguin here asking you questions about 'weather' related words. Read them and click on the right word.

In the next game you have to listen very carefully to help a mouse write some words before it is too late (there is a dangerous cat watching you).

Let's go over some weather symbols with the next game. It is a very simple game, but you can use it to go over words as sunny, foggy, cloudy...

As I said, it a very easy game.

Take care, kids.
